Summer sandal suggestions

Summers can be a drag in the city.  The humidity, the pollution, and worst off: sore and sweaty feet.

To keep cool and comfortable in the hot months I suggest the following sandals season:

Clark: Spa.  Totally simplstic yet trendy enough to be worn for a night out.

Birkenstock: Giseh Birko.  Birks are back.  Or have they really ever been gone?  This strappy look is a rare bread of chic and comfort.  What’s not to love?

Bass: Sharon.  I remember my mom used to wear Bass sandles all the time back in the late 80s and early 90s.  Now they are here again in this simple style.

Springtime kicks

One shoe that has really been gaining popularity over the years is the classic Sperry Top-Sider.  Yes, boat shoes.  Everyone from trendy women in the city to the fictional TV character Tony Soprano have been sporting the nautically inspired footwear.  They are a spring staple to any wardrobe and can even transcend seasons however I associate them most with spring.

I recommend Bluefish 2 Eye in Linen/Oat simply because the colors can go with any outfit.  It can be dressed up or down depending on your outfit.

Free People’s “Slouch Clog”

Yikes.

How tightly stretched is your budget, and how out of ideas do you have to be to come up with a number like this. What a doozy. The owner of these beauts must have a hard time deciding whether to upholster furniture, work in a garden, or go to a rave in 1996. Admirably hideous.

Take a look for yourself…read the description and try not to laugh.

Naomi Campbell for Vivienne Westwood: The Fall Heard (or Seen) ‘Round the World

The most infamous fall on a runway caused by extreme footwear happened to Naomi Campbell about 15 years ago, when she was walking for Vivienne Westwood. The quality of the video is not so great, but you do get a sense of how drastic it was.

Pretty nasty fall. Poor girl. At least a runway career improved after a fall. Enjoy Dave’s fitting commetary on the debacle.

Simple Sneakers

It is hard to find a basic, simple sneaker these days.

I think a person can’t go wrong with the classic Converse low tops. I was searching the Converse website and stumbled across this ‘build your own‘ shoe option.  Very cool.

If you don’t want to look like everyone else out there wearing Converse, I offer you this: Supergas. It is an Italian brand which has been popping up lately, and is available on Zappos.

Frye is stepping out. Takers?

So…electric blue cowboy boots.

What do you think? I’m thinking…yes, actually, but more along the lines of an off-season villa in Greece, or lunch in Barcelona. Not to be worn in the Continental U.S., and definitely not around any cowboys, excluding those of the Rhinestone ilk, of course.  This is of course Frye’s Carlson pull-on.  Enjoy.

Buy them here
